Nature has blessed the state of Santa Catarina’s Imbituba region with one of Brazil’s most beautiful coastlines. White sand beaches bathed by emerald green ocean waters are surrounded by mountains and a shoreline covered in luxurious vegetation. And every July the region is visited by right whales that use the region’s bays and backwaters as their nurseries for procreation and to breastfeed their calves. Not only that, but there are lakes, waterfalls and hiking trails, all decorated by beautiful bromeliads, orchids and rich, diverse fauna.
In short, a perfect example of the magnificent Atlantic Forest, a unique ecosystem. And it’s no coincidence that Praia do Rosa bay is included and recognized by the Paris-based Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club as one of the world’s 30 most beautiful.
With its excellent infrastructure for leisure and tourism, the region is known for its charming bars, restaurants, inns and hotels that combine rustic simplicity and sophistication, always putting comfort and personalized service first. The region’s outstanding traditional cooking is served along with a wide variety of other dining choices. Its excellent seafood is always fresh and harvested on a small-scale by fishermen – a sight that’s worth seeing for yourself.
The local culture is strongly influenced by immigration from the Portuguese Azores Islands and has beautiful folk manifestations expressed by festivities and dances rich in color, rhythm and tradition. Praia do Rosa, Siriú, Ibiraquera, Garopaba, Ferrugem – if this isn’t paradise, we don’t know what is!
